Jehan Perera is a founder member and Executive Director of the National Peace Council of Sri Lanka (NPC), established in 1995. He is a practitioner with over 30 years of experience in Sri Lanka, supporting civil society organisations and democratic governance.

Jehan has led multi-stakeholder processes, conducted political economy analysis, and overseen community-based reconciliation programmes that strengthen civic engagement, women’s leadership, and interfaith cooperation. He has also provided a long-standing contribution to national dialogue through a variety of initiatives, as well as weekly columns in the English, Sinhala, and Tamil press.

He was awarded the inaugural Sakai City peace prize in 2008. He was a civil society representative at the UN Human Rights Council 57th Session Side Event on Combatting Intolerance, Hate Crimes and Islamophobia, Geneva (2024) and a civil society representative with the Sri Lankan government delegation at UN Human Rights Council 34th Session (2017). He holds a Juris Doctor from Harvard University (USA), a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Harvard College, and a Bachelor of Laws from the Open University of Sri Lanka.
