Mossarat Qadeem

Executive Director,
PAIMAN Alumni Trust
Pakistan

Mossarat Qadeem is the co-founder of PAIMAN Trust and a globally recognised leader in preventing violent extremism, promoting interfaith and intra-faith harmony, advancing faith-based climate preservation, fostering inclusive peace education, and advancing women, peace, and security.

She has addressed the UN General Assembly and the UN Security Council. She serves on international platforms, including the Commonwealth CVE Expert Group, the Women’s Alliance for Security Leadership, and the Commonwealth Women Mediators Network.

She holds a PhD in International Politics from the University of Hull, an MCPA in Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School, and Master’s degrees in Political Science and Gender Studies. Bridging theory and practice, she has pioneered culturally and religiously grounded mediation approaches—reviving Pashtun conflict-resolution traditions, Islamic mediation, and faith-based environmental stewardship—and has directly engaged extremist actors in fragile contexts. Her TOLANA community-led PVE model has been replicated in Afghanistan, Kenya, and Nigeria.

A former professor at the University of Peshawar, Mossarat has authored two books and over 65 publications. She previously served as Minister of Information, has remained advisor to the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since 2014, contributed to PVE strategies in the Netherlands and Kenya, and is a Visiting Fellow at the London School of Economics. Her honours include the UN N-Peace Award, the Fatima Jinnah Award, the Woman Peacemaker Fellowship (USD), and the SAAHAS Award.
