Women in Security, Conflict Management and Peace (WISCOMP) was launched in 1999 as
an initiative of the Foundation for Universal Responsibility of His Holiness the
Dalai Lama to build a culture of coexistence and nonviolence in South Asia that is
gender-sensitive and inclusive.
WISCOMP formally introduced and nurtured the Gender, Peace and Security discourse
in South Asia through sustained engagement, research, and practice, enabling women
to influence public policy and peace processes.
For over two decades, WISCOMP has worked through dialogue facilitation,
capacity-building, trauma-healing initiatives, mentorship programmes, advocacy,
and cross-border peacebuilding efforts.
Its network spans academia, civil society, media, law, and government, with over
400 peace animators and more than 350 publications.
